The Future

This monument will strongly visualize the history of emigration. The monument will be a symbol of the Utvandrer­festivalen. Topical events will be: Camps where Norwegian-American and Norwegian children and youths may participate, geneological research, exhibits of the history of emigration/immigration both in Norway and the US, exchange of cultural activities such as songs and music, sports, cooking etc. One of the more important things will be to expose and acknowledge those of the Sørlendinger who have distinguished themselves within the Norwegian-American  communities on either side of the . Here is a lot of interesting «stuff» well worth looking into and keeping for future generations.We aim to see that as many arrang­ements as possible will be carried out throughout the communities in Sørlandet.The co-operation with «Sørlandet i 100» has enabled us to receive some support from professional environments in the two Agder Counties.
