How to carry out the plans.?

The goal was to make as many sørlendinger as possible  feel some kind of ownership to the monu­ment. To accomplish that, the plan was  as follows

1) We contacted private citizens in Sørlandet and sørlendinger residing in the US. We asked for monetary contributions. We promised that the names of contributors would be registered in a list of donors which was to be made and completed by the time of the unveiling.

2) As this project was of great importance to all of Sørlandet, we asked for contributions from the Vest- and Aust-Agder Counties. We also contacted banks, businesses and industrial enterprises. The local bank in Kvinesdal, Kvinesdal Sparebank, contributed with NOK 200.000,-. The total costs of the monument were  approximately NOK 1 million.
